Getting to know regulations is one of the way to raise awareness of nature well being, and legacy for the future.
Here is a preface got from fisheries departement ; Western Australia’s fisheries management strategies have one primary goal – Fish for the future. This means ensuring our fisheries are ecologically sustainable. All marine fishing is managed in four broad biological regions – the North Coast, Gascoyne Coast, West Coast and South Coast. A complete guidance of fisheries policy can download here, it is include of bag and size limit, high, medium, low and protected species.
Another important thing need to know are;
- Barotrauma results from the sudden expansion of gases in the swim bladder and other organs when a fish does not have time to adjust to the rapid changes in water pressure as it is pulled to the surface.
- Release Weight; a commonly used release weight is a weighted barbless hook attached either to an existing fishing rig, or used on a rod and reel or handline specifically set aside for releasing deepwater fish. The release weight is used to return deep-water species such as estuary cod back to the seabed as quickly as possible, helping to reverse the effects of barotrauma.
